Part of the OWLS (Oxfordshire Wildlife and Landscape Study) dataset. To provide information to Oxfordshire County Council officers and the public on the Oxfordshire Wildlife and Landscape Study areas and to inform on constraints to planning. The main purpose of the OWLS project was to investigate the landscape character and biodiversity resource of the county and use the results of the survey work to help safeguard, maintain and enhance this resource. 'Chalk Downland and Slopes' is one of the twenty-four separate landscape types within the county, made up of individual landscape description units with a similar pattern of geology, topography, land use and settlements. Their names reflect their characteristic land cover.
